Well, have seen the first episode. This is what we call a pure shounen series since everything from drama to comedy to action to that light touch of fanservice are all auditioned toward the audience of the shounen genre. Only two girls were seen in the episode and both of them are well endowed, plus, one of them has fishnets for undergarments for her upper region. The hero is funny because he is pathetic, but the show is also titled as History`s Strongest Disciple Kenichi, so we know the pathetic part is short-lived since he is bound to be the strongest sooner or later. One just has to be a fan of shounen series to have any inclination toward this series. I enjoyed the first episode since I can appreciate shounen cheese! Yes, the show is cheesy. This is a great series, because you get to see Kenichi develop with all the teachings of his masters. The series usually focuses on Kenichi(Which is to be expected), but once in a while gives more background on each of the masters which is pretty cool.

This is one of my favourite animes (i quite like the manga too), and i dont really know why. It's not great in any common sense of the word like .. elfen lied.. or detective conan.. or blackjack... theres no extroardinary writing, the plot is obvious... but i dont know.. its got something going for it..

maybe its how they handle the bullying... i really do feel for him, and i feel envious of him too for having the drive.. what makes it fun for me is its the whole getting stronger vibe... but i feel he's got a much better reason than usual, even if his drive is his crush , thats not the whole thing.. and i suppose there arent really any spectularly annoying characters, they alll have their own charm, and the bizarre mish mash fits quite nicely together.. i like the way they don't take it to seriously.. but they also don't gloss over bullying. .. its very realistic, in a surreal kinda way...

infact if anyone can reccomend me anything similar with a bullied main character who gets help from a girl , preferably not in an annoyingly perverted way.. and not like over drive where the guy is totally insane.. id be chuffed.

I liked this show, was pretty funny. Didn't like the end so much because it didn't feel like an end. I suppose that's what the manga is for though :P

I would say that they need to make a second season but as is often the case they dont. So if this is really the end then it really wasnt as fufilling as I would like it to be. These kind of shows can only really end when all the bad guys are down for the count and by the looks of things all the action was just the tip of the iceburg.

I suspect (without any proof) that a second season is in the works - given how awesome the first one was and the response from the fans, they'd be crazy not to.

On top of that, the manga carries on with at least one more major story arc, so they wouldn't have to ruin it my trying to make up extra stuff (*shudders with memories of the Bounto arc from Bleach's anime adaptation*)

This series was awesome, loved it from start to end.
All the unique and outrageous characters made this series enjoyable, i recommend it to anyone who enjoys martial arts :)
