シムーン (starts April 2006)

Since I couldn't find a thread for this upcoming yuri anime ([Only registered and activated users can see links])...

Synopsis from AnimeBlogger.net ([Only registered and activated users can see links]):

Quote:
The story takes place on a planet different from the Earth. They call their planet the Great Air Continent. There, they are born as female. When they become 15 years old, they go to the "spring" and choose their sex to become "adult".

They are at war; the country where the main characters live is invaded by the next country aiming at their superior engine. Day by day, the situation is getting severer. To intercept their attack, they convert the two-seater plane for ceremony, Simoun, into a fighter. Also, they organize an air squad, "Call", which consists of "Mediums". They are girls who don’t decide their sex yet.

The girl who can operate "Simoun" is called "Simoun Siwula". Because they have special abilities, they can choose when they become “adult” by themselves. However, since the war broke out, they've been forced to continue to be pilots, i.e., "girls".

There's a brief summary of the first installment on Okazu ([Only registered and activated users can see links]).

Now, a question:

Some sources ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) suggest that the anime is based on an original work by Jin Seob Song - certainly, the title and the term "siwula" sound much more Korean than Japanese. I've tried Googling with my best guess at the hangul ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), but I haven't hit anything obvious like a manhwa. Can any Korean-speakers shed light on the origins of this series?

I have read the manga. It was okay, not good. I was expecting more form the naime. I watched it already and I was happy.
I don't like the drawing much, their faces are too childish. The kissing was a little weird to me.
Still, Simoun was a good yuri anime and was worth to be checked out

*Sigh. Why is it the neutral endings that get to me the most? It took me two days to get over this one in particular. The ending was so mysterious, yet romantic at the same time. I give the series an 8/10. I watched the show one year earlier, but it didn't appeal to me. I gave it another chance last month and fell in love after the 5th episode.

I loved it.
I usually tend to stay away from yuri anime because I'm a straight girl/ like yaoi/ hate it when they make yuri girl have ENORMOUS breast and the like.
I don't know why I started watching it. Someone recommended it to me a while back, I checked the op, liked the art style and sorta just started watching.
I ended up loving it. The characters were realistic, the music was great (love the OST) the Simoun air crafts had an unique design, and most importantly, the lot was good.
It had a level of depht, and I had the feeling that they didn't want to make just another generic anime.
And I cried at the end. So bitersweet....:escape:
