For some reason my media player classic will not give me any sound. No it is not on mute. I took a look at my audio settings and they were the same as they have been when I first installed. So out of frustration I uninstalled it. I later found a updated version online and I get audio with this version.

BUT when I try to set it as a default player it will not add to the list. If anyone knows how I can either get my audio back on my older version or get the new version on my default list I would be very much in your debt.

Did u just install MPC or did u install it with a Codec Pack?
if u just installed MPC, it may be an audio Codec Problem.

I suggest the MPC which comes with the CCCP codec.

Note: When instaling any Codes, u must uninstall other codecs or there my be file conflicts.

If you have codec problem just use FFDShow it nearly sort all of your decoding and encoding problem and its completely legal there is no bit of pirated codes in it.

The CCCP Codec has all the codecs ne1 will need, and that includes FFDShow in it.
If a person installs too many codecs after a main codec pack, there will be conflicts which can cause problems. Never install multiple codecs of the same type. Problems will occur.

The CCCP codec pack has no problems when it comes to Audio/Video, so why ruin it by installing another one...

Really if it work good for him i don't see any reason to change it as CCCP Codec pack is using FFDShow for it's Codec .
but i suggest FFDShow because the FFDShow in CCCP Codec pack is revision 1355 but the FFDShow he can download now is Revision 1604 or Revision 1596 in case of MMX or SSE version of it and I wont think CCCP gave something more important than what FFDShow gave you .
by the way You can install FFDShow after CCCP without any conflict if you really need some feature of CCCP Codec that FFDShow wont provide. because FFDShow before installation at first uninstall older version of itself (only if the older version is newer than revision 10xx )
but as i said if he don't want to use FFDShow for some advanced new feature of DIVX encoding he really wont need any change.

by the way is CCCP give us Something useful that FFDShow wont provide.
