Hey everyone I was wondering if anyone knew how to download a torrent without the use of a client? Or if there was a way you could download using a client WITHOUT SEEDING OR PEERING?

If you mean by a client that only handles torrents itself, yes. There are firefox plugins and Opera that can operate as a torrent client.

Or if there was a way you could download using a client WITHOUT SEEDING OR PEERING?

Thats not how torrenting works. Torrenting functions by someone else "seeding", which is them uploading the file to you live. and you in return upload for another person that wants to download for themselves, a endless cycle.

torrents = dowloading from peers

seeding = uploading for people who are downloading

leeching = downloading with little/minimal uploading speeds

*note
between different communities/people the definitions for these terms may differ

therefore
there is no way to treat a torrent in any way as a DDL
unless your know the person your downloading from and theres only 2 peers (inclusive) on the network

Yes you can, with an online torrent client, such as TorrentRelay.com

This method is NOT recommended, however, as you have to work twice (seeding the file on the client server THEN you have to download the file from the server onto your computer)

As for your second question, I'd say it's impossible, as what rinchan said, that is how torrent works.

Anyway, what have brought you up with this kind of question?

Interesting article Deadsilent does it use your Ip adress to seed or peer the torrent and say for instance I did not want to seed or peer Rinchan's Fate Stay Night torrent sorry RinChan just using you as an example nut only wished to download the files or specific files. The reason I ask is I have had bad P2P Torrents, The wires(family) etc. experiences and they also make it easier for people to find out your Ip adress, but some of the files can only be found in Torrents and I do not like that.

in order to download you’ll have to get a VPN account at Ivacy. This is because the files can only be downloaded to your PC if you’re connected to the (private) Ivacy network. There is a free 1GB trial available, so potential users can play around with it for free. A paid account costs 0.50 Euro ($0.70) per GB, or 10 Euro ($14.20) a month for unlimited bandwidth.

Also How and why would you create a Virtual Private Network account?
Oh I see now you have to pay so that does not do what I need I need a free way to do it but that seems to be on the right course.

You know, technically, if you wanna download a torrent with peers or seeders, your basically direct downloading.

Some crap I didn't read.

If you use one of those websites it will download to their server using their IP then you can choose to download the file or not from their server which will give them your IP unless you use a IP mask.

For the VPN question I suggest you first wikipedia what a VPN is then once you understand it fully you will see its usefulness and why you dont need to create one.

True, but the ip and data can still be tracked through your ISP which can report your activity to the authorities... I was sharing some files through torrent once and they said to either stop sharing those files or they would report me.. Regaurdless of what you download if the file can be tracked your ISP can do it... :|

Yea, that is a sucky thing about them. I was talking to a comcast tech one day, and he mentioned a program that would encrypt your traffic while using torrents. I forgot the name of it, ill look around for it tho.

Well yes you are right about the direct downloading which is what I want to do but the file is a torrent file so therefore I cannot direct download it and would really like a torrent to direct download converter lol. But please post the info about traffic encryptor as well and anything else you can think of please.

it's not the same as direct downloading as the file(s) you download isn't from one direct source of your choosing, it's many different sources and because of this you may receive differences in the files each time your download from a torrent, unlike direct downloading where it will be the same each time, also it's not consider a direct download, because you aren't directly downloading from the users, your going through a torrent site that hosted the torrent, adn using their trackers to find and connect to others seeding/leeching

also if you look in the options you can limit at the rate at which you seed(upload) the file to others, but most sites discouraged this, and you may find your download going slower (they track everyone, so if your leeching more then the rest they put your priority down, and then a 30 minute dl can become a 60 minute dl, point is if your going to leech at least be courteous and keep your upload rate going at least 10 to 15 minutes after your finished dling)

Well you see that is one of the reasons I don't like torrents sadly they can be the only way to get certain files. I don't like that it not only puts a double whammy on my hard drive and on my connection (which slows it down say 500kb at max speed download speed with seeding/peering as opposed to the 3-4MB a second download speed I can get download from download.com, megaupload and just about any other site I can name) but that they give you no other option is almost as bad

ya same here man, and it doesn't help when i'm downloading discographies, but anyways i usually reupload stuff i get by torrents through my megaupload account, saves others going through the same crap as i do to get them

p.s. your connection is still better then mine, 30/kbps transfer rate, but yet for some reason i seem to break this rate when using torrents (i can up at a rate of 30 and dl at a rate of 30 at the same time), i use to have 120/kbps where i use to live, which was great when i was uploading

Ouf I feel your pain. And you can still upload with that connection speed? Is that your line speed or download speed? I have a 6MB/PS download speed so recently I've been getting close to what I've been paying for it is a bit(not the unit of data) slower on the upload rate and a little slow on the download but it's a lot better than having a 6MB/PS connection and getting 400KB/PS download.

my transfer rate, would be line rate, but usually when i dl it takes up the full 30, while when i upload through megaupload it takes up the full 30, but it doesn't take priority so i can surf around still, and my upload speed will drop to about 24k, i always use megamanger though when i can for either, just stating thoigh that i find it weird when i use torrents my line speed is then at 60k (sometimes 45-50k) at that's usually slpit with 30k dl and what's left over for upload (i usually cut off my upload limit at 20k while dling whenusing torrents, then i put it upto 30k and keep it on to help seed others)

It might be because torrents download speed increases in increments up until the download ends (or something like that). Unlike with direct downloads that are supposed to stay at the same rate the entire download or increase and stay or continue to increase their rate throughout the download (or something like that).

ya i think your right there, gets me thinking though, maybe the reason why too we're able to get better speeds is because we are downloading/uploading the same time as the others are, so instead maybe we're sharing are speeds with other people, that could also explain why some people even with crappier connections then me can use torrents
