Hi Everyone,

Well here is an update of what i was doing for the past couple of weeks trying to find a good deal and this is the best i received.

Anyways,

We use to pay $270 USD for this server (CPU - quad core Xeon X3360, Memory - 4GBs, HDD 1 - 300GB 15K RPM SAS , 2.5 TB Bandwidth) and $75 for the server admin. Total = 345 USD every month

Then later we face load issues, and data base errors because of the amount of users that visit nihonomaru. We tried to deal with this issue for over 3 month or more i believe.

Then later we faces a bandwidth issue, were we used more then 2.5 TB of bandwidth, so i was forced to upgrade to 1 TB of Bandwidth more, so we end up having a total of 3.5 TB of Bandwidth. Every 1 TB extra bandwidth costs $100 USD so the server cost went up from $270/m to $370/m so we now pay ($370 for server and $75 for server admin = 445 USD every month)

Now because we are facing so many load issues and the server crashed a couple of times because of the high load. We need to buy another server for sql load. After a couple of deals, this is what I currently bough For $219 USD

+ Single Processor Quad Core
+ 8 GB RAM
+ 250 GB SATA Drive 7,200RPM 
+ Centos 5
+ 5 IP Addresses
+ 2500 GB Monthly Transfer
+ Premium BGP4 Network
+ 100 mbps Uplink

So here is the thing, now we have two servers and will form a cluster server. I just paid for this month already ($370 for the server we had already + $219 for this new server + $75 server admin) so I just paid 664 USD this month :'(

Many people helped a lot with this month donation so that really helped us a lot <3

Now what i will do next month is that we will pay $564/m instead of the $664/m

How will the price drop down from 664/m to 564/m ?

Well we will take that 1 extra TB of bandwidth from the old server, so we will pay $270 USD instead of $370 and that new server we order , already comes with 2.5 TB of bandwidth, so we will put that into use and move all the images, avatar, skins etc.. to be hosted on that that new server.

So basically that new server will be used for the sql load and for the bandwidth as well.
That is the best i could do for now. May be int he future i might get a better promotion and things run better then now

But for now for and every month we would be paying $564 USD every month.

Plz don't abouse this new server, don't spam with useless words, like stuff like "lol..........." "Say thanks for the upload 20+ times" stuff like that is already forbidden and was mentioned before, you will get infraction if you spam too much with posts that has 0 meaning and if you ignore the infraction, u will simply be banned.

We want to enjoy this site without abusing it. So i won't put this new server at a risk because people are abusing nihonomaru. Paying $564 every month is a lot for me even though many members are dedicated to help but I don't know the future, i don't know if donation next month would cover that amount or not, and i am certainly not the type of person that wines for donations. If donation wasn't fully covered, I pay the difference out of my own money because i work as well like everyone else. But i have my own bills to pay as well.

All the moderators here are dedicated to help niho and help its users, they are doing it for free.

You just have to show some courtesy and understand that running a site like this isn't free, it takes a lot of dedicated time and money to keep it running.

Wow $564 a month. The users of Niho should be concerned about this cuz here and there u could see a lot of users spamming and its actually gonna destroy the site itself.
We should spread out the word about this.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't most advanced forums like this one give the administrators the option to set the maximum amount of smiles per post?

I know phpBB has that option, I would expect vBulletin to have the same abilities.

Unfortunately no , vb has this option:

Maximum Images Per Post
When a new post is submitted or edited vBulletin will check the number of images and smilies in the text and reject it if the number is greater than the value specified here.

Set the value to 0 to disable this function.

so if i send this to 3 , you guys won't be able to post external images like screenshot for example, only max 3 you can post per post. So that isn't a usefull function at all, external images that are hosted on servers like photobucket etc.. don't hurt our server, it is the images that are hosted our server.

As for the infracting users, plz if any mods has a question ask these type of questions int he staff section.

Nice news! Ofc there are the costs, but it´s nice to see the comunity is growing!
When I got some nice work, I´ll help with this with money ofc. But for now, I just can help spamming in the right way.

That's a lot of money.... Well, since I'm only 18 I can't really help out with donations, YET. But I will inform people who are breaking these rules to a mod.
