Black Cat
This is one of my all time favorite mangas. It is about Train, an ex-assassin who has now become a bounty hunter and his chase after a person who used to be in the same organization as Train but has left it and is now seeking world domination.

Personally, I'd go with the manga series since the anime seemed to dampen much of the impact of its drawn counterpart. Not only that, but the anime also truncated the series and even created a gratuitous filler at the end; The flow would have been better if they used that space to import more of the manga battles into the big screen. As for the series itself, I find it hard not to envy the main protagonist's abilities. One of my favorite things about this series is that the battles are typically realistic, which makes the action believable.
