Elfen Lied
I was wondering if people who read the Elfen Lied manga could tell me how it compares to the anime... Heard the show was really good, but didn't get round to watching it yet. I thought about reading the manga first since it takes less time but was wondering if there is any reason I should not do it before the anime?

The anime is really gruesome. I'm loving every second of it. The manga was pretty boring.

yea i just finished elfin lied as well. nyu is hella cute and lucy is just badass !

I dont think it matters what you see first, although the manga has 2 or 3 extra side stories.

hmmm lack of basic info that would be helpful here
anime is only about 12 episodes, alternative ending to the manga. most of the things that happen in the last episode of hte anime do not happen in the manga. manga is over 100 chapters, the anime ends somewhere in the 60s iirc, so the manga goes quite a ways past where the anime ends. I watched the anime first then read the manga, and I think that's probably a good way to do it. I recommend both as long as you don't mind all the violence and the fact that the series is depressing. the main con of hte manga is that the artwork for the first few volumes prettymuch sucks, if I had started with the manga I probably wouldn't have read it or watched the anime, cause the art is just ugly. it gets very noticably better as the manga goes though. IMO the best thing about the series is the story, and the story is deeper in the manga manga is not completely translated but it does go quite a bit past where the anime ends by now. |
