The anime is okay. The first "season" of the manga wasn't echi, or at least I didn't find it to be, but has anyone noticed that the second season is? By a lot. I think the fact that a lot of people started reading after the anime came out, the creator incorporated echi into the second season. That's my take on it. Personally I think the second season of the anime will be a lot better. The manga itself started out a bit slow with all the introductions and such, but eventually got a storyline. The anime spent half it's episodes just introducing so I think that was its weakness.

Naw the manga is much better, I would like to see Tsukune in full vampire hybrid like the chain thing is destroyed and he learns how to control it. That'd be pretty cool (:

Too bad there's not much of a primary villain in the manga storyline... each and every chapter you get yourself a new baddie trying to exact justice for some reason... With Anti-Thesis gone, it's a matter of time before the series goes down the drain.
Oh, and best moment till now? Tsukune beating the hell out of that anti-thesis guy with 1 punch in ghoul form. Totally had me grinning like an old dog for 3 hours. Ruby lying against that tree unzipping her skirt had me laughing nuts aswell. It's too bad the anime sucks... Probably why they moved on to the 2nd season after only 13 episodes instead of the full 40 of part 1 of the manga. Kinda makes it sad as you think how series like Naruto or Bleach are still running on a weekly basis *coughfillerarcscough* Mizore's random skits are funny... aswell as Tsukune's occasional nosebleeds... The anime was pure poo, dropped it after like 3-4 episodes, the manga how ever is really fun, even though i think it really needs a big arc, not just small ones., and it would be fun to see some fight end with something other than Moka going über-vampire in the last moment and one shot whoever they're fighting along with the mandatory "Know your place" comment.
