I'll answer this one. The beginning isn't very clear on where beginners should go yet, but the first place newbies should go is Whittle Fields to fight bees, they have much lower stats and can be killed faster. I'm sure it'd be best to dual wield kitchen knifes so you can begin fighting at 9 strength.

It's not really a shop, it's the kitchen, you can buy a kitchen knife for 3 gil, pretty cheap. And you can dual wield 'em too.

Once you've leveled to level 2 or 3, tackle the frogs. Beyond the frogs is a better shop.
Talk to the NPCs. Don't go fight wolves for a while lol btw: the new kitchen shop and knives was AzureStrike's idea, a good one imo Last edited by tfoobot; 07-26-2007 at 09:01 PM.. |

It might be best if you just stick with having the opening message for the person in Slempik pastures to tell the player to go to the FAQs with a link directly sending the player to this thread.
We get too many people with no idea of where to go and thus head into the wolves or the skunks, so they die really quickly. It also might be best if you give the players more beginning quests, like kill ## of bees and you get a prize of light honey or 100 gil or something unique even. Queen bee's stinger "Dagger" sounds nice for a quest reward, giving like 7 str, (Even an enchantment to poison the enemy if the enemy is struck?) or something, then the player will just need to buy one tinkers dagger to accompany it or the player can just leave it in the inventory after buying a tinker's light sword. |

Heck, if there's a way to have items consumed for quests, you could have someone in trodania or the temple or something upgrade the Queen bee's stinger into a Stinkle Bear's fang with the venom pouch or something maybe making it a 12 str dagger and have a stronger poison.
