hey thx for the game, i just finished dling the game, how do i get it to work, its keep saying it's missing some files, and reinstall will help, but i dont have the installer

When inserting the disc in XP some of you will get the error in Startup.exe, don't worry I will walk you through this.


First, you will need a program that tracks installation files, registry keys, and alterations to your computer made by a program. Alot of people use CClean but I like to use Revo Uninstaller at snapfiles.com! It's faster, free, and helps you through everything step by step. Also includes a safe mode just to be sure that deletes mostly everything Halo 2 leaves behind when you're done with it. If you do not use one of these programs and attempt to simply delete Halo 2, it will never reinstall on your system again until you reformat.

Second, on the Halo 2 disc there is a folder named redists. Install vcredist.msi and XliveRedist1.0.6027msi BUT DO NOT INSTALL H2V-licr.msi.

Third, get here right now and download this rar.

Now, open it up and extract it somewhere.

Now to start the loader to install. Extract the content of the rar somewhere, like C:\wata

To open a 'dos' window click on start -> run -> type "cmd" without the "" and press Enter.

In the dosbox type "c:" to get to the C drive then type "cd wata" to get into the wata folder.

Now make sure that the DVD is in the drive or otherwise mounted. In the 'dos' box type
"Loader.exe F:\Startup.exe" (for F fill in your dvd drive letter or your daemon tools drive letter"

Now Setup starts. MAKE SURE THAT YOU CLICK CUSTOM AND DO NOT PLAY IT WHILE INSTALLING. This is a trick by Microsoft and it won't activate.

Now go back to the dos box and type in
Loader.exe "C:\Games\Halo 2\halo2.exe"
(you HAVE to use the "" in the command line) If C:\games\halo 2\ is where you installed the game (substitute that path with wherever you installed your game)



Note:

1. Take the Loader version of MF.DLL and place it into you WINDOWS\system32 folder (ie.. C:\WINDOWS\system32\)

2. Take RZR1911 version of MF.DLL and place it into your Halo 2 folder after installing Halo 2 (ie.. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2\)

Then take the files only in the PUT_IN_HALO2_INSTALL_DIR over to your Halo 2 folder but do not overwrite the RZR1911 MF.DLL, If you need the RZR1911 MF.dll then go here

Use the PLAY_HALO2.bat file to run Halo 2.


After all is said and done, start a new profile and XBOX Live profile. It cannot go online, so don't worry about XBOX live bothering you. Enjoy. :)



Ps. Save the materials to do this again and this information or you will never play it in a year or so because you will be lost and these files will probably be gone.
