They should leave the current series where it is. I admit, it would be nice if they started animating the manga starting from where it diverged, they would eventually catch up to the manga and probably get Naruto syndrome where they air two years of filler and progress at the speed of bread. In other words, leave the anime where it is and and keep reading the manga.

i think they should come out with the manga part of the series in anime to show a diff side of the story

and think the anime is perfect as it is... no need for more. If you wanna know more, you know you can resort to the manga, but if it's too long a series, the main story gets lost and tangled with fillers... and that's something we all despise

i thought the anime was really good, considering it deviated from the manga towards the end. one of the few anime's which actually has a good ending when it stops following the manga

If they restarted the series based on the brothers in our world, wouldn't it just be like another 'real-life' drama? After all they can't use alchemy and there's no more homoculus on either side of the gate, which means the gate is permanently closed.
Unless they rework the plot a fair bit so they can link back to their world, kinda sucks that they left Winry alone of the other side

The ending stunk, if alchemy was there passion then it stinks that they lost it.
