For me, it's okay if I watched in English first. But once they start pronouncing the names completely wrong, I will have to go back to the original xD;
I perfer original japanese cast ^^;
But growing up in a very... err... chinese family, we used to watch cantonese dubbed anime like it was normal.... Maybe it's cause asian language switching to asian language isnt as weird since the expressions are more similar? > <

i think the worst dubs r the ones that try to keep the honorific with the names... (ill use Haruhi as an example) referring her as "Miss Suzumiya" all the time is just weird... and would never happen in english... (FLCL did good with its honorifics and didnt use and Mr. or Mrs., they kept the -kun's and -san's)

... also when the dub tries to be a direct translation... when u hear everyone at a dinner table say "Time to eat!" (itadakimasu) all in unison... it kinda sucks...

From a practical standpoint, it's worth risking a loss of quality for dubs. Sometimes, you can even get an increase in quality, but no matter what I'd vastly prefer to be able to watch the action and listen rather than focus on the words on the bottom of the screen and miss everything else.
