Hentai Terminology Guide:
Hentai: a Japanese word meaning "perverted" is used in many western countries to refer to anime, manga, and computer games with explicit sexual or pornographic content (see Japanese pornography). However, the Japanese very rarely use the word in this way. More commonly used terms include "jū hachi kin" (prohibited for sale to persons under 18 ), "ecchi/H anime" (sexual/pornographic anime) "eroanime" (derived from erotic anime), or "seinen" (adult, not to be confused with young adult).

I thought Ecchi was Japanese for Perverted or of Perverted Nature, while Hentai or H went for the Hardcore Perverted nature.

That's why Ecchi is usually un common ground with Softcore *non sexual* pics while Hentai is the Hardcore stuff.
