No, there isn't. We could make a thread (and I've already thought about this), but English isn't my native language and I think I'd have trouble with it. Plus there aren't that many roleplayers on the site...

There are sites/forums dedicated to playing rpg's with dice can't remember what they were called though. It's a shame that comming few weeks I won't have enough time to plan an rpg otherwise I would be willing to start one as well. Perhaps I can start one during or after summer.

Since you said you'd like to create a new system let's get started with the basics right away :D

Since we'll probably gonna work with numbers we'll need to set a sort of 'scale'.
With scale I mean the variable of dice rolls this number can't be to big because then the dice would decide everything but not too small either since then they would have no meaning.

For wizards of the coast a lot is decided by a scale of 1-20 (using a single 20 sided dice)
while GURPS uses a 3-18 (using 3 six sided dice).
White Wolf is a bit different since stats give you more dice (all 10 sided) and the standard difficulty is 6+, though some actions are 7+ or higher or might even require more successes.

Personally I think both gurps and DND work fine though gurps has the advantafe that using many dice makes sure that you usually roll 10 or 11 making critical hit's and misses rare. Still D20 systems work fine as well, it's more of a personal prefference.

If it was up to me I would make a system using a number easy to divide by a lot of numbers, this might be useful later. Personally I'd say 24 meaning we can make rolls of 4d6 or 2d12 or we might even use 1d12 + 2d6 or 3d8.

With this foundation we should concentrate on where the game is focussed on before we decide on the character stats.
Roleplaying will almost inevitably involve combat but this doesn't need to be the focus of the game. In Vampire more then half the characters abilities were not meant for combat. Same goes for most skills in D&D 3.5

However D&D 4.0 is all about combat, classes give very few abilities that can be used out of combat if any at all.

Our choice of focus will in a way define our 'stats' in an rpg where there is a lot of social interaction we need more stats like intelligence, charisma, appearance, etc. then a combat heavy system where such stats would be neglected by players and used as 'dump stats'.

Drachnon: I didn't mean an entire roleplaying system. That would take years to develop. I was thinking of making a "Mosaic Magic System". Something similar to that of in MAGUS. The system is based on symbols, rules call them whatever you want. The point is that you have to create the spells yourself. This requires creativity from players and makes magic much more interactive and dynamic.

I like when someone playing a supposedly intelligent mage/wizard/sorcerer/magic user is intelligent herself. x)
The "new system" meant that this is easily incorporated into any other existing system. But the basic of the MMS will be D&D most likely.
