Re: {Philosophers' Corner}
That's a really interesting question. Can mankind act as a collective, or will we always say "that's not my problem, the others do it"
I mean, it's in the hands of everybody, we drive cars, we buy things made in air-polluting factories, we want furniture made out of wood, preferentially rare woods from the rain forests, but nobody cares about the consequences in the long run. Why not? Aren't we all responsible? ![]() ![]() Among the tales of sorrow and of ruin that come down to us from the darkness of those days there are yet some in which amid weeping there is joy and under the shadow of death light that endures - Tolkien, Silmarillion |

Re: {Philosophers' Corner}
I would have to say that the answer is determined based on ones opinion on faith. How far are you willing to believe just to get to know that life isn't so simple?
IMO though, faith is just another word for fear. Natural Selection or Human Selfishness. Natural Selection being the sign of faith; wanting to see something beyond the simple fact that humans say "fuc* off", and that's all there is to it. ![]() To the end, forever. Re: {Philosophers' Corner}
The topic is not very well worded....
Anyway, I do think we can discuss this logically, of course it depends on faith and conviction, but in the end, everything does. I'd rather say people are determined by their fears and, of course, by things they hate, but there is also another side, they can do choices based on not fearing or hating something. People can overcome their fear and be reasonable, just look at me, I was a wreck for years because I thought drinking alcohol is necessary in order to be part of the society. Now I'm straight edge by just having overcome that fear and I'm happy. (bad example, but I hope everyone understands what I'm meaning) I think the whole society can become like this by just improving the educational level, then less people would do choices based on hate or fear and strive for the things that are really necessary. ![]() ![]() Among the tales of sorrow and of ruin that come down to us from the darkness of those days there are yet some in which amid weeping there is joy and under the shadow of death light that endures - Tolkien, Silmarillion |
