So phazer11, I wanna ask that what is our club doing anyway? Helping others to encode or teaching them how to encode?

We are going to have a group activity for all who wish to participate.
If you don't you can help others with their questions, I.E. converting to handhelds things like that. I think we should have an anime that the group encodes and have the members claim episode #'s to encode and upload. It'll be up to a vote though. |

well ive been using mediacoder to convert mkv files to avi while trying to preserve quality but i cant seem to get the size under 300 megs an ep...
any suggestions? ~~~~~~~~~~

Sure whaevr the more the merryier.
@dragonforce Yeah AVI's don't have as good a compression ratio as .MKV's I suggest switching to .MP4 and the codec to X264/H.264. What were the file sizes of the original .MKVs? |

original file sizes were ~300-350 megs themselves. i always try and obtain dvd rips or hd quality files, so they are often quite large. ill attempt some .mp4 conversions later, but that will have to wait because the program eats up alot of memory and takes up to an hour to convert a single file.
