Anime was made first... Manga made based on anime. Anime is epic. Manga not so epic. so by the reflexive property. Anime = Epic so Epic = Anime. Watching gives a better feeling for character development and actions taking place.

this is one of the very few cases where i'd say the anime is better than the manga. usually, it's the manga that's the best for me since sometimes, the anime leaves out a lot of parts from the manga. but Goro Taniguchi (director for Code Geass) did such an amazing job that i can't argue which is the best. it's definitely anime for this one.
