an unexpected resource for anime
Most people don't realize it, but many community libraries usually carry a couple dozen complete anime series. It's usually faster than downloading them, totally legal and ethical, and you get the extra goodies that are almost never uploaded. Also, it's a lot easier to rip the sound track from a dvd chapter, than trying to extract it from a video file.

If i could be so fortunate...at its 'peak' my local library carried a VHS of Sailor Moon S, and then I didn't know what that was. I would love to come to your library though :-p

Hmm, there is a few, but not enough in the Library in my area.
They have a Few VHS, but they are like animes with the 1980 Old Animation style *I don't have a VSH player, lol* The only DVD Anime stuff they have is like a couple "Hayao Miyazaki" Films like "Kiki's Delivery Service", "Howl's Moving Castle", and "Spirited Away" Not many Anime Titles in my Town Library, lol besides it's all stuff I've seen anyways, lol. ![]() |

Re: an unexpected resource for anime
Guess I'm just lucky, then. Where I live, libraries are run by the County, with the bigger cities each having their own seperate library system. Even better, the two biggest counties have some sort of sharing arrangement that lets cardholders in one county get a library card in the adjacent county without having to pay any nonresident fees. ahhhh, life in the pacific northwest is sweet. Only downside is that Microsoft lives out here, too.
I've also lived in cities where the city library was the only option, and they do kind of suck. For some reason, city libraries are so stuck up about letting nonresidents use their facilities. They don't seem to understand the cooperation concept. I've got a friend that lives within tacoma city limits, and, because the city library doesn't want to share, he can't use any of the county libraries. |

Wish my library had anime
![]() But the only kind they have is the entire season of cowboy bebop on dvd. Well look like I have to fullfill my anime desires on their manga selection (quite a lot too) :defeat: |

Also, not lucky.
No library within 30 miles of me has any anime in their collections. But, they do have 1000+ historical vhs and dvds... Theft would occur way too much too. People just aren't very trusting around where I live, which is around Sioux City, Iowa. |

Re: an unexpected resource for anime
Yeah, the local library does have a problem with theft, such that any anime or manga places on reserve has to be picked up in person at the card services desk, rather than shelved in the 'on hold' section.
Ya know, if everybody limited themselves to habits they could afford, the world would be a much better place. |
