Re: Death to anime due to Licensed dubbing.
Licensed dubbing isn't really what's killing anime. It's more due to the fact that there isn't a good pool of voice actors for animes, especially since anime seems to looked at in a bad sort of way in the U.S. Perhaps once anime becomes more accepted as a legitimate industry, we'll see talented voice actors join the fray.

Re: Death to anime due to Licensed dubbing.
Why is it that you act like dubs are so bad? I've enjoyed all the dubs i've seen, and thought that the voice actors done a very good job on them. All you morons which claim that dubs are terrible obviously haven't seen many, perhaps only DBZ(whats wrong with it anyway?).

Re: Death to anime due to Licensed dubbing.
There is plenty of talent today. The voice actors do a great job of rendering a characters voice and making us believe they are alive. The only complaints people seem to have is with shows like Naruto or Bleach, but luckily no one cares about those shows, or the people that watch them.

I take it you're a fan of Evangelion (judging by your name). I would say that anime has is a good example of horrible dubbing, especially Shinji's voice actor.

Re: Death to anime due to Licensed dubbing.
You do realise that the voice actor had to portray a whiney 14 year old boy, right? Not easy for a guy to do.

Re: Death to anime due to Licensed dubbing.
most dubbing is awful i meen god damn awful, take fma for istance ruined by one really bad voice dub ALPHonse! terrible, i meen really bad.
on the side of the story cowboy bebop was a masterful dubbing. i feel that strongly about poor dubbing that i would probably not watch an anime, if it was badly dubbed because it would make me cringe. therefore i cannot watch it. |

Re: Death to anime due to Licensed dubbing.
Well, it's time for me to enter the fray...
I generally watch anime subtitled. But really, I started that habit back when the actors really weren't that great (90's, generally speaking). Nowadays, I feel the actors have improved immensely and should be appreciated for their hard work and dedication to what's still considered a minor industry in America. But, not all anime should have English dubbing, though. I have excellent examples for both cases. Example 1: AIR TV. AIR is a prime example of excellent English dubbing. I love AIR far more than any other anime I have EVER seen. When the English came out, I was afraid to watch it, assuming I would be disappointed. I watched it though, and I was very happy. The actress for Misuzu was excellent, and her emotions matched the character to a perfect "T". Example 2: Kanon. Kanon is a special dating type anime, and has an excellent script. However, the key phrases that define some characters (Ayu's Uguu~), cannot be translated in English. The English dub for her character resulted in being bad because of that. |
