How do u get people to lay off your accent

remind them, that no matter who you are, you have an accent, even if it's a slight difference or unnoticeable, or only an accent people outside of America hear, or if it's a word they cannot say right or what's considered the 'norm' (I cannot say pizza, I say peak-sa)

usually just telling them makes them stop(well they do here) I just say "Says the guy with a worse accent." Sometimes they'll just stop out of confinement. Granted I guess it's easier here because the people who say this all have hispanic accents.

And yeah, every person has an accent no matter where you are from. Even if you've lived in the same country for years, you'll still have a bit of an accent (:
For example can people always hear I'm from Denmark no matter what I speak XD~~
It's only natural to have an accent ^^

General American or Received British are still accents. It doesn't matter what accent you speak with, as long as you're speaking English (or whatever language it may be).

I'm from Yorkshire, most people like my accent, and I don't mind it so anyone elses' opinion doesn't matter. :)

Short answer: stop caring.

Does anyone else find that talking in accent sounds cool? I usually wish I could talk in accent.

Accents are not a bad thing really. It's a distinguishing characteristic. I have lived in the Mid-Atlantic region of the US all my life. And i can tell you that within approximately 300 mile radius, you can count a good dozen or so dialects. And yes, there is a difference in North vs South Carolinian dialect. But that's just in one small area. Your accent just shows background. Nothing wrong with that. For so long i worked in places that made me get rid of mine. And anyone who ever tries getting into mass communications knows that a voice without an accent is necessary---but you give up part of yourself in the process. Accents attract!
