Did you get a Facebook invite from Imari Bible?

Hi all,
The reason I'm asking is for security purposes. A few weeks ago I got an invitation from "Imari Bible" to join her Facebook group for discussion of anime. I'd never been there before so thought it would bear looking into, mainly because since this person had my email address and mentioned Nihonomaru twice on her profile that it was someone from here; most likely (I'd hoped) an admin sending out a blanket invitation to all of us.

But I've searched here and have seen nothing about it or that name as a member.

So, I joined the group, spent two hours making a profile (PITA!), only to find two days later that her page was taken down! WTF???

Anyway, it's not a total loss since I was able to hook up with an ex-gf

But I'm a little concerned as to who and why... especially since (a) she had my email addy, and (b) read a whole lot of personal info on my profile, and (c) disappeared without comment or trace after getting it. In these effed-up days of Internet interaction I'm just a little bit concerned.

It's not a big deal. If you left your email on some website then people will find it.
Simple. You should get over it, I don't even understand half of what your saying and its not like anything bad happened.

Just forget about it.

If you think you might have left your email somewhere, do a google search for your email.

I'm not saying anything "bad" happened anyway; it's just somewhat creepy. If it's a fellow-member I certainly don't mind, and am grateful for the invite. But I haven't left my address here except for when I registered, and this person mentioned Nihonomaru twice in her profile implying that she was a member as I am and sent it to my email address. And if it wasn't for the purposes she expressed, then WHAT was it for, and WHY did she send it to ME (if no-one else got this invite)? And then vanish without a trace or a word?

If it wasn't one of our admins then it implies being targeted for something, since only one person besides our members knows I come here AND has that address, and only the admins here have my addy. I haven't really mentioned Nihonomaru on other forums because I don't want to chance on sending "strangers" here. *sigh* I guess if I go into any more detail it will seem too "complicated" LOL

There are too many Internet scumbags out there with malicious intent to just "get over it." People are too lackadaisical about crap like this.

Anyway, I was just checking to see whether anyone else from here got this email first before investigating further. Hope that's plain enough.

I haven't send out invitation to facebook , why would we do that, this is weird, was your facebook account public ? There are these sites, that could steal members emails from other sites, which is what might happen to you, i really don't know, but i haven't send any emails to my members inviting them to facebook, or that would have been official email.

Thanks Arika, that was my first question, since the Forum is basically its own "group" LOL

I didn't want to bother you or Misuzu with it; I figured it had to be a fellow-member from here genuinely wanting a Facebook group but I couldn't imagine how someone would have gotten my address unless it was someone I know, and who knew I was a member here. And unfortunately, I guess, none of my friends are into anime. (But I'm trying LOL)

I've saved the email but it's an official Facebook email so it won't provide any hints :-(

And I'd never even been to Facebook before, so I had no account there. I made one in order to accept the invite, figuring it was a "friendly" from here. And I don't want to shout "go to Nihonomaru for your anime!" on other forums (as much as I'd love to) because it might bring you hassles since they aren't anime forums. I don't know why your previous site closed but don't want to put you at risk. I worry about that a lot.

I did mention it once on a large forum but thought not to do it again, as much as I'd like to spread the word. On a doll-related site I mentioned Nihonomaru once as a great place to find lost episodes; I wanted to get you some new members. (I might not post much here but I do value it highly.) On it I started an anime thread that has gotten over 7000 views since June but only a handful replying; that in itself is weird LOL. But their member-list is encrypted I think, so it's unlikely that one of them got my address. Weird.

Anyway, I hope I'm not causing a fuss; it's just something I felt I should check out since it seems to have come from someone who was "fishing" using Nihonomaru as bait, and I took it. Since it looked genuine (the person had a Facebook account), I thought it was, especially since they mentioned Nihonomaru twice in their profile.

And I never respond to "uninvited guests" in my inbox. I delete spam without even glancing at it, so I'm usually not a sucker LOL
