clannad was good, but the EF series together has a better plot in my opinion, and god, the art and music are godlike(one of my favorite composer, tenmon, is composing this series's ost), it makes you feel like you're watching a movie every episode lol.
generally, when looking for a good romance anime(again, in my opinion), play the visual novel first to decide if they're good or not. a few romance anime i've seen that i think were worth watching are as the following EF - a tale of memories EF - a tale of melodies Myself; Yourself Clannad Clannad after story and School Days is for you to decide lol, some liked it, some disgusted by it |

Well, Clannad and Clannad After Story puts tear in your heart and Kimi ga nozomu eien and Kimi ga nozomu eien ~Next Season~ surely targets one's love ones. im currently watching the EF series so im not sure what is the best romance anime because other have opinions... try to watch Elfen Lied,its REALLY bloddy and gore and stuff but the story is sad( try also the manga of it) and also the Da Capo series...

I agree that Clannad was a good romance anime but there are far better ROMANCE anime than Clannad. Although I have only watched maybe 20+ romance Anime, I think that it depends on each individual on which Romance anime they think is the best, for example, some people might give a romance anime that includes comedy rank 1 whereas another person like myself could give a romance anime that includes drama and slice of life rank 1. Kimi ga Nozomu Eien was one of the best romance+slice of life anime I have seen.
