On the side note, it would be really appreciated to help with the donation, covering the server cost is really hard on us to deal with every month. I really thank all those who try to help us every month with the donation, I really appreciated it but when we can't cover the server cost least every month, it really comes to a point where it gets really frustrating to deal with every month server cost and have the responsibility to pay for the server cost. We aren't asking donation toward upgrades, toward designs, toward new things we add to nihonomaru to improve it, that is on us. We like to add new things to the site whenever we can or whenever we can afford it. But for a server cost, it is really hard to afford it every month. Covering $415 for server cost wouldn't be hard if many tried to help.

There's been some confusion by different people over the couple years we've been online about the reputation system here on niho - some people never rep anyone no matter what, while other pass it around like it's flu season.

We, as the staff, are partly to blame, because while we've always known how the system's supposed to work, we never actually wrote it into the rules, so it's not a surprise that rep orgies happened every once in a while, which we then had to clear up and explain what happened to many of the users involved.

That has now been fixed with an amendment to the rules. The brief version, for those who dislike reading, is this: rep people for helping you or uploading content; don't rep people just for fun/because you like them/because they repped you first.

Easy, eh?

The penalties may seem severe, but if you look again you'll see that those are only for repeat offenders - first time it happens, we will gently correct things and explain the rules; it's only afterwards that we get a bit harsher. Everyone deserves a second chance, but we want the stars of the forum - the ones who supply the content we all came here for, the ones who help you out when you're in a pinch - to have the distinction they deserve without it becoming something that everyone and their dog has.

If you've got any questions, feel free to ask here - I'll try to amend the rule so it's as clear and fair as possible, but it's here to stay.
