Now, I didn’t originally think of this, but it made a lot of sense to me when I pieced the puzzle together with the help of /a/nons’ perceptions.
These pictures are ambiguous of its validity ~ Taken from various sources along with the deductions ![]() ![]() ![]()
Spoiler!
My take is that Lelouch is alive. The most obvious reason would be CC calling to Lelouch in the closing scene of the episode. As we can assume CC to be still sane, she must be talking to someone, and that someone would most probably be the driver of the cart: Lelouch would have to be alive. Quote:
if CC was talking to his spirit wouldn't she be looking up above the sky?
Spoiler!
Second, however, and this is where the others have thought things through, Lelouch is alive because he got his dad’s code. He beckoned the World of C to lend him its powers, and he took Charles’s code before Charles passed on. The reason why Lelouch still has his Geass is because he didn’t take the Code from the same person who gave him his Geass: he took his Geass from CC, and he took his Code from Charles. Thus, he now possesses both immortality and a Geass. This is also a reason that the title is Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion. To further corroborate this, however, remember that when Nunnally held Lelouch’s hand he transferred his memories to her. CC also did it when Lelouch touched her accidentally back then, so it could be assumed that people with Codes are indeliberate telepaths. This leaves us with both immortals traversing the world for the rest of eternity. It’s a great end, friends. P.S. Ending line of CC translated by bibi: “Geass is the power of kings, it will isolate you… well, I guess thats a little wrong… eh, Lelouch” P.P.S. Additional evidence, courtesy of `Nergal and 4chan: Orange knew of Lelouche’s and Suzaku’s plan and helped them out by ordering his men not to fire on Zero, he even smiled when Zerozaku jumped on his shoulder. Now would Orange, a man who devoted himself entirely to Lelouche and threw away everything without a second thought be OK with a plan where the sole person he wants to protect in life is actually killed? The answer to that is NO, not even if Lelouche ordered him to accept the plan: he would not go along with it and would protect him with his life. There is only one way that Orange would be OK with a plan like that and thats if he knew about Lelouche’s immortality, which I assume he did as he worked with V.V. in the Geass research base. Orange was OK with this plan as he knew Lelouche would come to no harm and would be able to start a new peaceful life with the woman he loves in a world which he himself had made peaceful. Even at the end, we see Orange on his orange plantation, completely content with the way things have panned out, he definitely could not be that happy had Lelouche actually died. There it is, firm evidence of Lelouche’s immortality if the scene with C.C. and the cart driver wasn’t painfully obvious enough. "Biggest Clue;Paper crane:Nunnally taught Lulu to made those in R1 Lelouch is still alive. He has Charles’ Code which he received when the man choked him. The Code activates first when you die, which happened. Charles code got activate when he shot himself the first time, same with C.C. when she was killed by the nun. And before you say can’t have Code and a Geass at the same time, the Code wasn’t the one C.C. had, meaning that Lelouch was the first one to achieve Code Geass. Lelouch’s code also activates when Suzaku stabbed him. Nunnally even gets ‘memory watch’ when he touched Lelouch. It was the similar effects when Leluch touched C.C.’s body back in the cave episode. This pretty much tells us that he really has the code and it is activating to revive him. He’s now traveling the country-side with C.C., living as immortals. That’s the only reason for C.C. to be suddenly so happy again. Also, before you say that C.C. was just talking to the dead like with Marianne, that’s not true. She could only talk to her because of the nature of her Geass which allowed her to implant herself into the “hearts” of others. That’s how she was able to talk with Marianne. Lelouch’s Geass was entirely different, meaning that she could only have spoken to her if he was there." 1. Charles grabbed Lelouch with his right hand, which had the Geass sigil. 2. Lelouch needed the fully evolved Geass to transfer a code. 3. The code doesn’t appear to activate until someone dies. Hence, why C.C. was wounded when she first inherited her code. Same happened with Charles in the World of C. 4. When Lelouch touched Nunnally, Nunnally got a flash of his memories. This ONLY happens when a high potential Geass user touches someone with the fully evolved Geass. 5. The title of the series is “R2″, which is similar to how “C.C” is pronounced. So Lelouch would be “R.R.” which is Engrish (I presume) for L.L., Lelouch Lamprouge. 6. When C.C. is talking on the wagon, she says “the power of Geass brings loneliness…that’s not quite right is it, Lelouch?” and nods her head in the direction of the wagon driver. P.P.S. The driver of the cab has black hair:
Spoiler!
Another Deduction from someone 1. He killed his father and he has his code, but it gets active when the user dies. Remember, in C.C.'s memories she says: "Please, get out of my body" reffering to the Geass when she dies for first time and realizes that she is inmortal. Well the Geass gets active in Lelouch when he dies. 2. C.C. is talking with Lelouch... think again: She never talks again with Marianne when she dies completly or she never talks or see Mao when he dies, so... Lelouch is alive. 3. In this final scene C.C says: "The power of Geass brings loneliness...thats not quite right is it, Lelouch?" So... if Lelouch is not alone anymore and is with C.C... he must to be the wagon driver, ne?, look how C.C. nods her head in the direction of the wagon driver =) 4. R2 = R.R. in japanese the "L" letter is pronunced like a "R", so If all is pronuntiation we have this: R.R. = L.L (In english) = Lelouch Lamperouge so... he is inmortal. Another exponation with the pronuntiation is C.C.'s name... it's never have been revealed, but her name must to be Elizabeth, żwhy? C.C. = Sissy = Some people calls Sissy to woman called Elizabeth. Just a pronuntiation game. 5. Lelouch traspassed his memories to Nunally before "die"... only a user with a powerful code can do it... we know that C.C. can do it, but not Lelouch, so... he is inmortal. You have to analyse every chapter and understand the Geass power to conclude this, but believe me, LELOUCH IS NOT DEAD!! =P My Deduction I've to agree with most of the deduction made,so I shall not repost the same stuffs, but mention things that has not been said. I know this is not the real picture,it's suppose to be Ougi & Villeta, but someone just edited it out for fan purpose. BUt over here, beside Rivalz on the bottom right of the picture kneelling down on the floor looks like Euphemia, so I'm just curious if it's her. You could say it's just someone else, but there's been lots of revive of character lately, like Guilford blind,Cornelia,Nunnally so it's hard to say.
Spoiler!
Another is this picture, although it might be just a edit. We never saw Lelouch riding a horse in the Anime but only in the OP. You might saw that even if it's in the OP doesn't mean that it would be the Anime. Not much illustration of Lelouch riding the horse there. I know the director did post on a magazine saying Code Geass coming to a end after 5 years of planning. It's FINISHED, but no one knows.
Spoiler!
Rumour has it that in a Japan Mag, someone said that a DVD special Episode 26 for R2 would be out on October 5th to clear all the doubt. Time will only tell if it's real. Though many of you might say it's just fan edits for hope
Spoiler!
-Though many say that Lelouch gained the Code by taking Charles' code, My point on this one is that we can't really count this a sensible theory, since seeing Lelouch who has had physical contact with C.C. many times, Lelouch should've already taken C.C.'s code on R1, which didn't happen, but in the light of this, Lelouch may have gained the code in two ways, First, from catching the glimpse of the world of C and the second part, which can be seen in the last few minutes of CG R2 Episode 25, as we can see, when C.C. looks upward, it is very clear that the Code in her forehead is already gone, which may imply that her speech meant that this time, C.C. is no longer the one who is immortal, but Lelouch himself, who may be the Haywagon Driver, or as some trolls in /a/ place it: ![]() *Refer to CG R1 Episode 15 if you can't get the meaning of this Either way, Lelouch may have achieved the title of CG itself, Having BOTH the Code and the Geass,or just the Code. Debunking Speculations: Endgame: You might say why i didn't include points like "Lelouch is dead" and "Lelouch doesn't have the code", I didn't include this because the answers are obvious with CG R2 25's last episode, Thus unless Sunrise clears most things, This are regarded as the true facts, And to make things clear, Lelouch & Cowboy Bebop's Spike Spiegel are the same when it comes to the question if "they are dead or not", In Spike's case, Shinchiro Watanabe never verified whether Spike died or not, Thus, same as Spike, it's up to the viewer to decide what truly happened to Lelouch. ![]()

HmmZ, why would he want to fake his death though? Why not just break down Brittania from the inside? Since he was the Emperor after all.

Well, what do you mean break down Britannia from the inside? The whole world hated the emperor and Britannia, but instead of ridding the world of an empire, he merely took all the blame and hate upon him as the emperor who caused all these atrocities to happen. Thus, allowing the world to attain peace and such... right?
I say just let it go with the argument... Those who want Lelouch to stay alive, let him live. He's probably hiding in the bag anyways... Those who want him dead, say he's dead. He took all dem lives and yet he doesn't get retribution? Sure why not. |

Wow thanks for posting this. Now I have second thoughts if he's dead or not. Still I think he's dead, but really it makes us all wonder. Too bad Code Geass isn't real and it's just another touching anime though. :(

Actually it could be true that Lelouch is not dead.
I agree with most of you statements (except for the picture with the horses ... Suzaku has to pretend that he is dead too because no one knows that he is Zero but the persons who are involved in the Zero Requiem) But in my opinion C.C. is talking to Lelouch. I had this feeling right after the final episode. I just hope he is not dead. Lelouch owns ![]()

yeah there are more clues that he is alive than being dead
and the most striking to me are the paper bird, nunallys flashback of lelouch past that is very similar to what happened when lelouch touch CC on season 1, and of course CC talking to cart man as though it is lelouch i think they made the ending that way to not spoil the whole zero requiem plan that makes who ever takes the mask of zero only abides to justice and engrave to us viewers the greatness of that plan or act of heroism |

I think that lelouch isn't dead since he has to have a code because he killed his father who had a code thus making him immortal. Also C.C can't be insane, she just can't be lol

Well hopefully someday something will come out to answer all the questions. From what I see they probably did want to get a ending where anyone can speculate that Lelouch could be alive.

an OVA? maybe
I can't believe I didn't notice that part with the thing that might be Lelouch O.O What I found that was really strange was that in one of the Code Geass mangas Nunally gets a Geass and a Knightmare called Mark Nemo...
