Best War movies:

1) U-96 Das boot Directors cut. Best war film ever.

2) Stalingrad. Strong war film. Its shame that its almost unknown. No doubt about one of the best war films ever made.

3) Farewell to arms ( 1932's version ) Best Anti-war film ever made. Should be must-watch for any politician and leader.

4) Blackhawk Down. I liked this film a lot. I don't know why really, I just like this. I've seen it perhaps 14 times.

5) Die Brücke ( 1959 ) it is shame that this classic war film is barely known. Perhaps one the best anti-war films telling about group of 14 to 16 year old kids blinded by their teachers war stories and nazi propganda decide to hold one bridge against advancing american forces... To its bitter and gruesome end.

6) Letters from Iwo Jima. Perhaps best american WWII film... Well Clint directed it...

7) Tuntematon Sotilas. I like it a lot. But I am biased. However I think its master piece film, showing how you can make war film without showing enemies more than 3 minutes worth in 2 hour and 49 min film.

8 ) Der Untergang / Downfall. I was supicious about this film first. But after watching this, this is no doubt about one of the best films about last days of Berlin.

9) Full Metal Jacket. Best Vietnam movie I've seen so far.

10) Platoon. 2nd best vietnam movie I've seen so far.

I think nations who make films about wars they wan, still fall of glorious heroism and who knows what when they make films. Best films are made from lost battles or lost wars by loosing side.

No glorious halo of victorious and rightousness or victor.

I like Clint Eastwood's recent ones, Flags of Our Fathers, and Letters to Iwo Jima, they were very realistic. I also watched a french video describing a romance during the second world war, and it showed extremely intense views of the horrors a trench warfare, and is one of the main reasons I dislike war.
