Sigur Rós. Very ambient, melodic, emotional stuff. It's Icelandic post rock. I only was introduced to them recently with the album ( ) wierd title. Good music though.

if you like sigur ros and the ambient style, make sure you check out "Godspeed You Black Emperor!", "Mogwai", "A Silver Mount Zion", and "Explosions in the Sky"

they are very similiar to this style

Yup, there is some songs that get me emotional, for example whenever I hear the OP to the anime AIR that gets to me T__T then there's:

"We Are Broken", "When It Rains", "Throwing Punches", "Stop This Song", "Miracle" by Paramore
"Famous Last Words" by My Chemical Romance
"On a Day Like Today" by Bryan Adams
"Cherish" by Ai Otsuka
"Winter Sleep", "A Little Pain" by Olivia
"Why" by Ayaka
"Gravity" by Maaya Sakamoto
"Be My Last" by Utada Hikaru
"Something", "Cellar Door", "The Webs We Weave" by Escape The Fate
"You Found Me" by The Fray

yeah there's a lot more ^^;; but that should do for now

The song Lilium from Elfen Lied calms me down almost instantly when I hear it.

no idea who it is by and it was never released on any of the OSTs

Music has been the cause of me crying only once, that was when I was moving and sadly had to leave my girlfriend behind. While on the road, Knocks You Down by Keri Hilson came on and I just couldn't hold it back.

Now songs that get me a little emotional are a few by Immogen Heap.

Emiliana Torrini mainly :)
She's famous now for her single "my heart is beating like a jungle drum" but that one doesn't really give her credit. Her music style is much softer and emotional
