Jap Songs Recommendation

I'm kinda bored with all those western songs on my library, so I thought I'd like to hear some Jap music. The Jap songs I got mostly are game theme, anime openings/closings. So, can you give me a recommendation? :)

I prefer JRock and JPop, but others are ok

Thanks in advance

Re: Jap Songs Recommendation

Well first of all; what kind of songs do you like? J-Music as a whole has received so many influences around XD

The catchy, genki, happy-go-lucky kind? The gothy kind? The jazz/blues kind? The R&B kind? I can only mention this but there ARE others. Like, rap-influenced, techno influenced, etc, etc.

if you wanted earworm genki happy-go-lucky, I'll suggest:
Morning Musume
Ai Otsuka
and lots, LOTS of female musicians and male boybands. You can practically pick a random one and maybe liking one or two of their music (lyrics not considered)

for the gothy kind (a.k.a J-Rock); I can't really recommend you on anything due to..my own distaste of them, but well, others here have recommended so many things :D

for the R&B-influenced, try Utada Hikaru, Koda Kumi, and Hirai Ken.

for the jazzy-blues sorta stuff, try Maaya Sakamoto, Akeboshi (you might know him as the one who sang several Naruto endings)

And for a specific artist I recommend Ayumi Hamasaki; her song has...so many ranges, from pure sweet diabetic pop, slow ballad, rock (or faux, perhaps), rap, techno...almost anything.

Good luck!

Re: Jap Songs Recommendation

my recommendation? Go for L'arc~en~ciel. they are a really awesome band with their own distinct music style. Oh.. and if possible, hear their live performances, they are awesome!

other bands/artiste I would recommend are:
Uverworld (though i dislike their live)
Asian Kung-fu generation (simply awesome)
May'n (macross frontier duh..)
Megumi nakajima (also Macross frontier)
Tommy Heavenly6 (currently listening to her and she aint half that bad)
Stereopony (dunno why but they sound alright..)
YUI (classic)
Tsuji Shion (next YUI)

Songs that i reccomend that arent affiliated to anime:
(mostly from L'arc~en~ciel)
Kansou (catchy after a while)
Yuki no ashiato (great vocals)
My heart draws a dream (nice. period.)
seventh heaven (High song)
17 (interesting tune)

Re: Jap Songs Recommendation

miyavi (SUPER ORIGINAL STYLE! He's the most original artist ever x33 MUST GET "Thiz iz the japanese kabuki rock")
The GazettE (some people hate it, but I think they have a great style!)
Kanon wakeshima (if you like somewhat classical style; she plays cello and has french pop influences)
Utada Hikaru (Her voice is so pretty! "ULTRA BLUE" is her best album in my opinion)
HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR (They're just awsome to listen to)
