Biased music opinions?
I've got some about mainstream/modern day rock and rap.
Most modern day rap is based around the subjects of violence, sex and material posessions. I believe that the young people of my generation are heavily influenced because of this and is responsible for the increase in crime.

And about modern day rock, when someone says they like punk, the first thing that comes to mind is "emo". I don't really get that though, but it is true that the mainstream is dominated by punk/emo, so it's easy to assume things. Today's lyrical compositions can't be compared to the oldies from Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer etc. I find that most of these modern bands write about is personal problems and how bad their life is, in contrast to the bands before, writing about religion and politics.

Modern day guitarists from bands like Green Day couldn't come up with good solos if their life depended on it. Those are my opinions.

i like Blink 182, and its my biased opinion that why wrote some of the best songs ever written.

I have been criticized over my main choice of music a few times but i don't care what anyone says tbh.

Everyone has their own taste in music,not everybody is into the common types ;)

My music of choice is happy hardcore and j-core but i will and do listen to anything from j-pop to metal,if i like the sound.

I dont like rap that much anymore due to the influences and followings it creates
well more like i don't like the people who take influence in it and try to act gangsta or whatever if you get what i mean.
i still very occasionally listen to some though.

Oh come on. Music CAN change the way you act. But it's YOU who know the best that the changes are in a good way or bad way. I listen to heavy metal and I'm more aggressive after that, but I don't feel it is bad, because I LIKE IT. They can say it's violent, and it's shit. I like it and I will listen to it, because you have no right to say what I must do.

i never think that its the music that changes people. its more of what the message that is conveyed by the music. and then there was ideology that is associated with the music. imo, music is art. it should stay as art. as the listeners, we are the evaluators of art. good or bad, it is us who will decide.
honestly, i listen to most (if not all) genres out there. i dont have a favored genre. i just listen to what good to me at the time.

What are your biased opinions? Do you think that in general all rock'n roll is the devil's music ( this is a big contradiction towards Christian rock bands, by the way.. ) or does it have a direct effect on the way a child acts?

Does it affect the way that you act?

1) Rock and Roll (and rap) is not the devil's music
2) The Devil (and God for that matter) don't exist anyways
3) If the Devil did exist though, it would probably be elevator music playing down there
4) Music will affect the way you feel about things, but no there's no direct effect (the same with violent video games, movies, tv, and books)

Those are the only one I remember off my head, but they are pretty good.

Descendents, The Clash, The Ramones, Bad Religion, Black Flag, The Vandals, Millencolin are really good punk bands too
