Here in the backwoods state of Maine, the laws are rather gray and uncertain. Supposedly, from 16 to 18, a teen does not need his/her parents permission as long as the other is not more than 5 years older. from 14-15 with parents permission, once again not more than 5 years older. It seems to be selectively enforced though. I knew a girl while I was growing up who was pregnent at the age of 12, and the father was 19. Everyone in the town new who the father was, including DHS and the authorities, but nothing was done.

As to what age is appropiate for someone to start having sex, I agree aith Taser that it depends on when a person is ready for it. I was 13 my first time (she was 19, once again selective enforcement) and a part of me wishes that i had waited. I ended up becomming a father at the age of 15, and I was definately not ready for it.

Not really , u have to be prepared for this step..well i read on a magazine that girls [in genereal] would be physically prepared at age of 17 , but well a girl is considered a woman after her menstrual cyle comes...at least that what my grandpa still saying ^^
here in romania 18 is legal...
anyway people don't respect any rule and if it is to do it...the age doesn't count so much >.>

Here its 18.. But im not so intrested about it ( yeah wtf do i know.. im just a kid).. but im pretty sure my way of thinkin about this thing will be alot diffrent in a couple years =D

Well in the good ol' UK it's 16 for heterosexual and 18 for homosexual guys... lesbians don't have an age limit.

I agree that it's something that's more about mental preparation and the state of the relationship with the other party. For example; I know a girl my age who started having sex with her boyfriend at the age of 14 (she started going out with him at age 13, I believe) and they're still together - as far as I know she's happy and hasn't regretted it at all.

And personally speaking, I've been with one girl and regret it on some level because I didn't love her, and I still haven't had sex with a man yet and I'm 18.

if i were to do something when my cycle came i would had started at 11 .....i think that more importante than be physically prepared u should know the consequences of what u do and well, most of teeneger just ignore this detail...

Legal age is 16 here in the UK, saying that we have the highest teenage pregnancy rate in Europe ¬_¬
Most people lose it here at about 14, I really think we should up it to 18.

To tell you something good I met alot of people who date younger girls,and girls who date older guys I dont know why and I dont care for me will do 17 to 20

Yup, apparently when Queen Victoria was still in power and male-male homosexual sex was a hanging offence, she did nothing to homosexual women purely because she didn't believe women could be lesbians. Bit silly when you think about it, isn't it? But because of that a law has never been passed in the UK for an age of consent of lesbian sex.
