Well i decided I'm going to be a chef!
So I want to know in your opinion which cuisine reigns supreme!

yeh i watch a lil too much iron chef.

anyway i was just hoping for some ideas on what kinds of food i should cook or what cultures i should learn from

Don't set out to be a chef. Plan to be something else BUT pick up all the necessary things to be a chef along the way. You don't want to spend years of your life trying to be a chef and then find out that you can't.

But, as for the kinds of food: chances are, you'll be cooking for a restaurant rather than starting your own. Make sure you're familiar with all the techniques and styles. If you do open your own restaurant, make it a pure, 1-themed place OR a completely multicultural (like Canada).

Besides, why would you favor the girls' opinions more than the guys'? In case you didn't notice, 3 of the 4 of America's Iron Chefs are male.

nah i got enough money to open a restaurant and when my grand parent die (god forbid)
ill have at least 3mil in inheritance o.o

and id rather be multicultural because my rule is you can never shut your mind down to something new you know?

but im gunna focus more on the soul food of each culture kinda, like the comfort food i love that stuff =D

wow that was kinda harsh but i think your making an awesome choice XD. first you defenitely want to try before u set this out as ur life goal thoug, like try making simple things off the internet like cookies or cakes or even thanksgiving dinner. and if u really enjoy it than have fun being a chef.

Unless he plans on being a pastry chef, he shouldn't try cookies and cakes.

I'm currently taking the class HIF2O, which is Food and Nutrition. I'll admit it's pretty fun whenever we cook, but that's only because it's for about an hour and once a week. It's just like anything else; just because you sample it and like it doesn't mean you'll enjoy doing it 8 hours a day, 5 days a week for 40 years.

Hes still young so he might like it in the end. If he doesnt like it he can always choose something else. So in other words just go for it.

I agree with Nored. Learn a second profession, something that'll help your chef career
