It was either Akira, Grave of the Fireflies, or X:The Movie (not the kenshin samurai one)
I don't remember which, but:
Akira-the manga is infinitely better
Grave of the Fireflies-only good anime movie besides Makoto Shinkai's work
X:The Movie-Absolute crap.

The first anime I watched when I was around 6 years of age was the one named Candy Candy originally produced in Japan in 1976 which I got the chance to watch when it was re-transmitted many years later. It is a very moving series which runs for about 115 episodes long.

My first was the Naruto series' first movie, though I got messed up because I didn't watch episodes and the movies in chronological order.
