Frenchy Lunning, the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) professor who organizes MCAD's annual Schoolgirls and Mobilesuits academic conference on anime and manga, has been [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] a Fulbright fellowship by the United States government to travel to Japan and conduct research on manga-related topics. In the spring of 2008, she will be working in Tokyo and Kyoto, studying the origins and development of manga. She plans to develop her research into a book on the relationship between manga and traditional Japanese art. The Fulbright Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State.
