Distant Star's Shinkai Creates Ad for Hometown's Paper

Makoto Shinkai, the one-man animation crew of the Voices of a Distant Star video and the director of The Place Promised in Our Early Days movie, created a commercial for The Shinano Mainichi Shimbun paper in his home prefecture of Nagano. Ironically, Shinkai's latest film, 5 Centimeters per Second, did not have a theatrical release in his home prefecture; volunteers had to arrange a community center showing in Sakushi, a city near K�mi, on August 14.
