I found Gundam Seed quite enjoyable. It also touches on stuff like discrimination, friendship, lost, those kind of stuff, especially when the main characters face off with each other (I won't spoil the reason for you) :)

Gundem Seed Destiny, which is practically Gundam Seed Part 2, story/plotwise wasn't as good as the first but the gundam upgrades are pretty impressive.
