CRIPES. You are NOT overweight. PLEASE stop letting your
peers affect how you think about yourself, or make
you think you should 'look a certain way.' That's them,
you are you.

But I know that almost everyone is dissatisfied with herself/himself. If You really want to lose weight that badly, You should simply follow the advices above, but please note two things. Losing 20 pounds (in Your case) is very extreme and unhealthy. This kind of thing (going on a diet) requires a change in Your lifestyle.

DDv has been onto something with you Queenie from the get
go and it's weird that we're now 2 guys giving 'advice'in a
'Ask A Girl' forum but whatever...your thread and
what I know is probably happening with you in life really aggrevates
me to no end. And not just with you but with a lot of girls who
I know are going through the same shit.
As DDv mentioned, if you're not seeing yourself the way you
want, the only thing we can say to you whether you actually
take action or not, is to mentally start seeing yourself eating
differently....for starters.
After reading this thread the first things that came to mind,
that would easily help you with this were:
NutriSystem
and
P90 Workout (A 90 Day Program that WILL change you)
You're only 17 and you've still got a good 6-7 years before
your body really stops changing on it's own. The links I put up
above are something that both me and my g/f use and the one I
wanted to stress more than the other was the NutriSystem Plan.
With the plan, you choose what pre-packaged meals you want to
get from them, and while you're eating what they send to you---
you're losing weight. And what DDv was saying about most diets
being lifestyle alterations is true, which is why they don't work
for most people. Nutrisystem only has you eating regularly (not
irregularly) with foods that are what you should be intaking at your
height/age (carbohydrates and the right amounts of protein and fiber,
yet it is still low in fat) level while maintaining your hunger levels.
The P90 Workout was (what I think/know) a great follow up to
that because you're strength training which IMMEDIATELY increases
your stamina, immune system, cardio, and sustained energy
levels thoughout everyday.
I'm hoping that maybe you have a part time job or something
already because I HIGHLY recommend these ideas to you. Take
action girl, do your damndest to ignore what your peers might
say, because being healthy and energetic not only feels awesome,
suddenly you're looking awesome too.
*edit* If you didn't know this already, you should know
that animalistically, all men prefer a women with curves, AKA,
child-bearing hips, AKA, shape---*ahem*---this means:
NO SKINNY MINNIES. LOL
Peace.
