I agree, I admire their boldness for taking a different route from the usual harem endings. Although I kinda figured they'd go for the bad end based on what I knew of the H game. The main thing that made the game stand out was the 3 bad ends, so it's only natural that the anime show based on the game would exploit the very thing that gave it fame.
In any case, that ending made the entire series worth watching, lol. That's what I call epic win.
