02 HELP NEEDED!!!! IN A.S.A.P about Windows Media Player

My computer currently have three media player. The 1st is the Windows Media Player 11, the 2nd one is the Real Player and the 3rd one is KM-player. Here's my problem, if possible, i would like to make my Windows Media Player as the main default player of my media files.

Main problem: When i want to play a regular DVD using Media Player, i can get the video running and the subs working, but the audio couldnt be heard (which means i cant hear a thing from my DVD >.< ) After that, i downloaded XP Codec Pack and i manage to get the audio part working and the video running, but now new problem arise as the subs are not working >.< )

Minor problem: Is there any other alternative player that i can use to play major ( or MOST, is better) file types with ONLY ONE other player other than Windows Media Player? I dont wanna have so many players as they're using up my system resources T.T
If possible, just another player would be enough. I wish to have only two player in my comp, that is the default Windows Media Player and the other alternative.

In desperate need of professional advices and recommendation. Please help me...
