have yo trying the Megaupload toolbar?
I use firefox too!!! and i used to get troubles because of my that, but when i installed the toolbar, it got fixed by itself, i think that it's a proxy issue, that most of the time is just the location (country) or the hour of the day, most o the time i download files at the night, when there's less "internet traffic"
