It's all a matter of personal preference I think. Some people will enjoy X more than XII and others will enjoy XII more than X. I don't think one's really "better" than the other. They're just different.

My preference lies with FFX, mostly due to the romance (yes I'm a romantic, and a hopeless one at that) and just because I had a bit of a hard time adjusting to FFXII's battle system. They did some great things with XII but sometimes you just wanna stick to the basics. NOTHING beats FFIII/VI IMO (III and VI are the same game for those who might not know, just a remake, at least for us North Americans anyway, I believe III in Jap was perhaps different?).
