It doesn't fall because the monitors together form a classic arch. Because each piece is wider at the top than the bottom, for any given piece to slide down the piece next to it have to slide apart. Basically the shape converts downard pressure to lateral (side-to-side) pressure. So as long as the end pieces can't slide too far the structure, and the inner pieces can't collapse in on themselves the structure can't fall.
