Well I like yuri better but i think thats because i am a guy. But I agree that most of yuri/shoujo ai doesn't have a good plot (I enjoyed StoPani)... But some yaoi/shonen ai too doesn't have plot.
Women like yaoi cause women write about yaoi. And most yuri it's a male who write. So it's natural that women prefer yaoi and men prefer yuri (i think.).
