So far in my reading... the story line is pretty good but is a very predictable... character development so far has been focused mainly on Lucy (stellar mage), Natsu (protagonist a fire mage also known as salamander), Gray (probably a supporting character, an ice alchemist mage) and Happy (the cat with wings, definitely a weird cat... LOL!).

That master would be the Nobuhiro Watsuki (The mangaka of Rurouni Kenshin)
The characters do have a similarity with OP characters such as natsu's resemblance to Luffy, and Loki to Doflamingo and other several characters, The drawing has improved compared to Mashima's early works like Rave... Oh btw Plue (the weird thing with a cone for a nose) is still around... woot woot... LOL!
